| Bio: | I graduated May 2004 from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in Religion (secondary concentration in Physics). I graduated December 2007 with my Masters from the Div School. Fall 2008 I will enter doctoral studies at the University of Chicago through the South Asian Languages and Civilizations (SALC) department. My research interests are in Early Indian (Mahayana and Hinayana) Buddhist cosmology via textual studies. Some other particular areas of interest within the South Asian discipline are historiography, translation, translator methods and prefaces, dating of texts, grammar, numbers, and metaphysics. I have a myriad of hobbies. My biggest hobby is music. I've sung basically all of my life between choirs and voice lessons. I enjoy most types of music, which many of my friends think is unfortunate, because it also includes stuff like Broadway musicals and med/ren music. I have been inactive for a quite a few years, but back in VA, my biggest organized hobby was the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where I recreated the renaissance and medieval times by participating in organized activities relating to those times. My name in the SCA is Lady Keelin (Caoilinn) Mirymuth. I did rapier with the SCA and had the honor of being named Baronial Rapier Champion for a year. Aside from fencing, my SCAdian interests mostly lie around music. My repertoire consists of songs ranging from the troubadour or minnesinger genre to Elizabethan ballads and ayres. I also play the doumbek (Middle-eastern hand drum). | |
